Apologies for the erratic flow of Petes Weekly, but after working 18 hours/day for seven days/week over the past 6 weeks, the woman of my dreams suggested that I was getting a little too acclimatised to UK life.
(A recent survey of UK men indicated that a significant percentage bathe just 3 times each week, and many appear to wear their socks and underwear for unhygienic periods. In fact, some may even be less pleasant on the nose than ripe gorgonzola.)
My woman suggested that I needed some South Africa, and possibly even a beach where the sea could soothe my odoursome limbs while I sipped island beer and ruminated on pineapples – unlike the entire crop in SA that appears to be contaminated with cadmium, lead, and a bunch of other fascinating additives.
Consequently, I have been in South Africa for the past 10 days, on my first annual holiday in 5 years. Do you have any idea how fabulous this country is? If it wasn’t for the single issue of crime, this would undeniably be the best place on earth to live. Right now the quality of life has a few stresses that make it only arguably the best place to live.
And maybe the other issue of Internet access. After the joys of high speed 3G and ADSL in the UK, to find my local ADSL creeping along like a tourist on the Hermanus road, and my 3G resetting itself more often than my daughter can soil her nappies, it seemed a little too arduous to try and email too many folk, just in case I clogged the data pipette that Telkom seems to open randomly for unspecified periods.
That said, I have another 10 working days to go before I will be behind my desk at Warrior Central, ready to publish the next Internet Business Model – this time on how to produce, publish and sell your book on the Internet. My first internet book venture has raised US$1000 in the past 2 weeks, and if I can do it – so can anybody else. (CrashProof your Business – click here to check it out.)
Aloha, as they say in Hawaii. (Which is as close as I will get to it this year.)
